Local nonprofit community media group Access Humboldt will unveil the digital “Redwood Soapbox†at the North Country Fair on Sept. 20 and 21 on the Arcata Plaza.
The Redwood Soapbox, a five-by-eight-foot structure made of sound board and two-by-fours, is equipped with a digital video camera and a monitor that becomes an instant platform for free speech. Community members will have up to three minutes to share shout-outs, songs, poems, etc. Submissions will be broadcast onto Access Humboldt Channel 11 and hosted online.
The booth will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days of the North Country Fair. Redwood Soapbox speakers will be required to sign a talent release stating that they give are willing to be on AH-11.
