Freedom of Information Day is an annual event on the birthday of James Madison, who is widely regarded as the Father of the Constitution and as the foremost advocate for openness in government.

Open, free of charge, to members of Access Humboldt. This class is required before taking any other classes (Field Production Certification, video editing, studio production...). Participants will be given a full tour of the Community Media Center (CMC) facilities, and will be introduced to the community resources and common procedures at Access Humboldt.

Upon completion members will be certified to check out Flip video cameras and add their name & talents to HIP (Humboldt Interactive Pool). There will be more about HIP at the orientation.

This is a regular meeting of the AH Board of Directors. The public is welcome to attend. The meeting will be held in the Community Media Center on the campus of Eureka High School. The Public Comment session is at the top of the agenda. Speakers are limited to three minutes each. For directions call our administration office at 476-1798. Please enter through the Accessible/Visitor/Faculty parking lot off of Del Norte street.

This class includes hands-on instruction in the basics of field production and electronic news gathering (ENG), as well as best-practices for low-budget video production. Class attendance is required before any member may check out the Canon HV20 and HV40 camera kits available to members of Access Humboldt. Member Orientation IS a prerequisite for this class. There is a $30 fee for the Field Production Certification class.

This three-hour course teaches participants the proper use and handling of the basic field production equipment available for check out from AH, as well as familiarizing them with proper check-out policies and procedures. The camera packages available to members consist of Canon HV20 & HV40 HiDef cameras, a variety of microphones (stick, lavaliere & shotgun), and tripods. A three-lamp Colortrans light kit is also available to members who have completed the course. The CMC Orientation is a pre-requisite for all certification courses.
