Eureka, California – Access Humboldt’s efforts to build a local community media network are nationally recognized for new applications on the leading edge of community broadband access.

This week a major media system manufacturer, Telvue Corporation presented a case study at the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (natoa.org) annual conference in Atlanta GA titled: “Broadband Media Access in Humboldt County.” Telvue is a publicly traded company (telvue.net), their case study is attached.

The case study describes current and planned applications for the Public Education Government (PEG) Network provided to the County and Cities by Suddenlink cable as a required public benefit - part of their rent for private use of the public’s rights of way.

“We are very fortunate to have a PEG Network with support from Suddenlink and leadership from our local governments and education institutions,” said Sean McLaughlin, executive director of Access Humboldt. “Working together, we will continue to invent new methods and create new media resources utilizing broadband access to engage local voices.” Access Humboldt’s mission and vision are online at accesshumboldt.net.
