On August 22, 2016 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted an operating license to Access Humboldt for KZZH-LP to broadcast on 96.7FM (KZZH-FM 96.7) with service covering Eureka, Arcata, Humboldt Bay and adjacent areas of Humboldt County, California.
KZZH-LP 96.7FM is a non-commercial, community based station operated by Access Humboldt from the Community Media Center studios at Eureka High School.
On August 22, 2016, with additional help from Prometheus Radio Project, the “license to cover” was approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for Access Humboldt to operate KZZH-LP at 96.7FM and the station began legal transmissions and test programming.
Local programming sources for KZZH-FM 96.7 will include:
♦ Podcasts and original content by school-age youth and other community members
ie. local news, information and music programing;
♦ Broadcast audio from county and municipal meetings (live and rebroadcast);
♦ Public Domain Classical Music
♦ Disaster preparation, response and recovery programs - including emergency news and information, such as extreme weather events, wildfires, tsunami warnings and earthquake information; and,
♦ Special event coverage - live from anywhere!
