AB 2395 harmful to broadband consumers

Anti-Consumer Bill AB 2395 is up for a hearing in the California Assembly Committee on Utilities and Commers, 1:30 on April 13 in Room 437.

Access Humboldt opposes AB 2395 introduced by Assembly Member Low, originally relating to "electrical restructuring" as amended, now relating to "telecommunications."

California Attorney General opinion on PEG fees lauded

Access Humboldt applauds California Attorney General's opinion on PEG fees.

On January 15, 2016, California Attorney General Kamala Harris released Opinion No. 13-403 https://oag.ca.gov/system/files/opinions/pdfs/13-403.pdf that was requested by Lake County Counsel Anita Grant. The Opinion finds that cable franchise fees that support public, educational and governmental access are not considered a tax for purposes of Proposition 26.  read more »

New Community Radio Start-Up Funded By Local Grant
KZZH to launch in 2016

Eureka - Access Humboldt is launching a new local radio station in 2016. KZZH will broadcast on 96.7 FM thanks to a generous grant provided by the Christine & Jalmer Berg Foundation of Eureka that will fund equipment necessary to get the radio signal on the air.  read more »
