Digital Inclusion gets a National Alliance!

Access Humboldt has joined with more than fifty organizations to help launch the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA)

Humboldt County Supervisors oppose AT&T/DirecTV merger deal

Eureka, California - On May 5, 2015 the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to send the FCC a "Letter of Opposition to the Proposed AT&T Acquisition of DirecTV."

The letter was adopted on consent, noting that consolidation of media ownership "reduces competition, threatens media localism and harms information diversity." Four minimum criteria are outlined before any such deal can be in the public interest: Promote Universal Access; Ensure Localism; Protect Open Internet; and, Extend Broadband Adoption.  read more »

As part of an ongoing review of the Communications Act, U.S. House majority released "White Paper #6" for the Communications Subcommittee asking "questions [to] address regulation of the market for video content and distribution"
