Workshop: Audio 101

The workshop will first describe and demonstrate fundamentals of digital audio that have direct relationship to audio quality, processing sequences, compression, and file size. Then we will use Audacity (free audio editing software) to perform basic editing that includes creating fades, volume envelopes, mixing sounds, cleaning out noise, normalizing sound, and outputting finished sound files for various delivery formats. Non-destructive editing vs destructive editing examples will be shown so students will hopefully be able to avoid the most common errors in audio editing. read more »

Whether you’re hiring a professional vidographer in the community or attempting to do an in-house production, understanding some very basic dos and don’ts can make a huge difference in the success of your final product.
Learn the best ways to set up your room before the event, what your videographer will need to produce a good video, best speaker placement, understand lighting, ways to deal with Power Point presentations, audio issues, and even what not to wear. read more »

Register now for Access Humboldt Studio Certification class. Once you've completed the training, certification will allow you to reserve studio space and produce content for the channels in our in-house Hi-Def production facility at the Community Media Center. Learn how to operate our high-definition studio and control room (switcher, mixer, lights, cameras, roles, and more).
The cost for the class is $40 per student, and the only pre-requisite is that you be a member in good standing that has completed Orientation. read more »
